Lego Star Wars Characters on Hoth

Instead of just building Star Wars LEGO sets, Finnish photographer Avanaut wanted to create realistic depictions of Hoth using the bricks.

The setup is simple really: All I use is an old transparent CD storage box, some water and my trusty old A4 lightbox for lighting. For the bottom of the box I have a piece of gray Lego baseplate cut in form and hotglued on a piece of acrylic sheet to give it some weight. Legos float because of all the air trapped inside individual pieces.

I had a wacky idea to submerge everything in water, it slows down everything that moves. The water also causes light to reflect from solid surfaces in a way that sometimes helps hiding the miniature scale.

Kids Built BMW X1 Replica from Lego

A group of 800 highly enthusiastic children aged between 5 and 13 years took just four days to build this BMW X1 from mostly yellow LEGO bricks. Danish brand LEGO has been giving joy to children from around the world for 50 years. The model was built to scale which means it is 4.5 metres long, 1.8m wide and 1.5m high and was made out of around 165,000 mostly yellow LEGO blocks. For each block used, BMW will donate a sum of money to “Die Arche” children’s foundation, in Munich.

The LEGO BMW X1 will be on display at the BMW Welt Plaza until November 25.

World’s Largest Lego Super Mario

If you have a few lego bricks lying around you could try building yourself a Mario or just put in a bid for this monster sized Lego Mario that is being auctioned on eBay currently at $3,289. The creator Dirk VH is donating the proceeds to charity. The Netherlands’ Game Mania commissioned Dirk to create this giant Mario.

The Huge Mario Lego sculpture weights 110 pounds and stands 5-foot, 9-inches tall the pieces are glued together for extra strength. Fantastic bit of engineering and well done to Dirk VH for creating such an amazing sculpture entirely out of Lego bricks and all for charity.

Lego House Gets Destroyed

The famous James May’s LEGO House has been destroyed. Really sad, don’t you think so? He made it with lots of love, the LEGO house really looks great and had full functionaly toilet. Now it’s gone, LegoLand didn’t took it because transport prices were too high. What else to say, take a look at the pictures.

Lego Icons By Cube Dude

The CubeDude Lego Icons are a series of surprisingly on point representations of the pop world’s most famous icons. Jules and Vincent above, Chewbacca, Batman and Homer Simpson below, over 120 famous characters from pop culture are faithfully created in Lego in stunning detail. It’s quite surprising how representative these LEGO creations are of their inspirations. Batman really looks like the Batman of old, Chewbacca looks like the character from Star Wars, and even Walter Sobchek looks like The Dude’s rolling partner. Well done, CubeDudes crew!
